The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Packhouse Manager to join a progressive soft fruit business in Scotland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a busy packhouse operation, ensuring fresh produce is packed to the highest quality standards while achieving production targets, maintaining food safety compliance and leading a motivated team. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the packhouse.
• Lead, motivate and develop packhouse supervisors and production teams.
• Ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
• Maintain the highest standards of product quality and presentation.
• Monitor packing performance, productivity and labour utilisation.
• Work closely with Harvest, Technical and Planning teams to ensure customer orders are completed on time.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety and retailer standards.
• Monitor stock levels of packaging materials and production consumables.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and operational efficiency.
• Produce accurate production and performance reports.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and training of seasonal and permanent staff.
• Promote a positive team culture with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements Essential

• Previous experience managing a fresh produce or food production packhouse.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
• Good understanding of production planning and KPI management.
• Experience working to retailer quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in Food Manufacturing, Production Management, Operations Management, Agriculture, Fresh Produce or a related discipline.
• IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous.
• Food Safety Level 3 (desirable).
• Fresh produce or soft fruit experience would be highly advantageous.
