Contract: Monday to Friday, Long term

Are you an experienced SEND or Primary Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term role in a supportive primary school?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Widnes (WA8) for a skilled and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong SEND experience who can build positive relationships, adapt their approach to individual needs and help pupils thrive both emotionally and academically.

The Role

You will work as part of the school's wider support team, providing classroom-based support to pupils with a range of SEND and additional needs , including Autism.

The role will involve supporting pupils both individually and in small groups, helping them access learning, develop confidence and engage positively with school life.

When required, you may be asked to provide support across different year groups and areas of the school, depending on pupil needs and staffing requirements.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

✅ Experience supporting children with SEND, Autism or complex additional needs .

✅ A good understanding of autism-friendly approaches and effective SEND strategies.

✅ Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning, communication, social and emotional needs.

✅ Confidence managing challenging behaviour using positive, relationship-based approaches.

✅ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

✅ A calm, patient, flexible and resilient attitude.

✅ Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting.

Your Responsibilities

* Provide classroom-based support to pupils with a range of SEND.
* Support pupils individually, in small groups and as part of whole-class learning.
* Help pupils engage with lessons and access the curriculum.
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
* Build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
* Adapt your approach to meet individual learning and support needs.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals.
* Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development.

About the Position

This role is being offered on a long-term supply basis , with the potential for the successful candidate to eventually secure a permanent position with the school.

It's an ideal opportunity for an experienced SEND TA looking for consistent, full-time work in a primary school where they can make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs .
