Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Capability Engineer to lead the development and implementation of commissioning processes for complex projects within the Nuclear Sector. The successful candidate will ensure that rules, tools, and methods are in place during the detailed design stage, working closely with the design team to embed best practice from the outset.

• Location: Manchester 
• On Site: 1-2 days/month 
• Clearance: SC
• Experience Level: 5- 10 YoE

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the commissioning capability function , ensuring robust processes, tools, and guidance are established.
• Engage with the design team, providing feedback, “dos and don’ts,” and best-practice guidelines for commissioning activities.
• Develop and maintain commissioning assessment processes.
• Apply SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) principles to commissioning guidance and oversight.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of commissioning processes and capability development.
• Ensure compliance with export control and DOE 810 nationality restrictions .
• Support the execution of large, complex programmes of work within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Proven experience in commissioning within nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceutical , or other heavily regulated industries.
• Demonstrated ability to establish commissioning strategy and to write commissioning plans at the detailed design stage.
• Experience delivering large, complex programmes of work.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and export control considerations.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and provide constructive guidance to design teams.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or electrical engineering or  equivalent   military experience
