Whipps Cross Hospital is seeking to appoint Band 3 Operating Department Health Care Assistant to work within our busy operating theatres. The role will involve working in the 3 theatres areas of the hospital. This is a support post within the Department, working under supervision of qualified staff. The post holder is part of the clinical team, participating in the delivery of clinical care to patients and supporting others using the service. The role is Monday to Sunday, hours include 8-6, 8-8 and night shift.
• The Theatre Health Care Support Worker will contribute to the care of patients in the Operating Theatre and associated areas by assisting the Registered Theatre Practitioners multi-disciplinary team. They will provide safe, effective and efficient care to all patients during their time in theatres and recovery. The Theatre Health Care Support Worker is proactive in anticipating the needs of the patients and supporting others using the service at all stages of the patients' perioperative journey.
• This role will undertake movement of patients, cleaning and general circulating duties in accordance with the department’s requirements. They will work flexibly as part of a team and to practice in accordance with the Trusts standards and statutory requirements.
• The post holder will develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority, such as collecting blood products, running blood gases, glucose testing, application of blood pressure cuff, saturation probe etc. Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.
