Job description

The Churches Trust is seeking individuals to join our panel of self-employed Personal Assistants. This flexible opportunity may suit people who have a few hours to spare and experience in a caring or supportive role. Personal Assistants can choose hours that fit around their existing work and family commitments.

Responsibilities

• Providing companions.
• Promoting and supporting independent living.
• Providing a sitting service.
• Assisting individuals to attend appointments.
• Accompanying individuals to social activities.
• Shopping and running errands.
• Light housework.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Able to communicate with clients and families.
• Able to work independently and use sound judgement.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Committed to treating clients with dignity and respecting their choices and independence.
• Able to follow agreed service boundaries and report concerns appropriately.
• Holds a current valid driving licence and has reliable access to a suitable vehicle.
• Willing to obtain appropriate business-use motor insurance before undertaking relevant assignments.
• Willing to complete an appropriate AccessNI check arranged through The Churches Trust.
• Able to provide two satisfactory references.
• Understands that the role is self-employed and is willing to manage the associated tax, National Insurance, insurance, record-keeping and invoicing responsibilities.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in care, community support, disability services, older people’s services or a similar role.
• Experience of supporting or assisting people in a responsible capacity.

Further Information

This is a self employed role. Hours of work are between 9am-5pm, Mon to Fri, you give us your availaibility and we match you with suitable clients. Access to a vehicle is essential.
