About the role…
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker (Best Interest Assessor) to join the Deprivation of Liberty Team within Adult Social Care.
Office base: Preston County Hall / White Cross Lancaster
This is an incredibly exciting time to join our service. We have launched Living Better Lives in Lancashire our new strengths-based vision for Adult Social Care. Through this we are embedding innovative practice that will make a real difference to the lives of people in our communities. We are looking for Social Workers (Best Interests Assessor) to deliver our vision of supporting people to achieve what matters to them, living independently in a place they call home.
Collaboration and co-production are at the heart of what we do. Working alongside partners, community organisations, carers, and most importantly the people we support to shape meaningful and personalised outcomes.
The role is responsible for carrying out statutory Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Best Interests Assessments, ensuring compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS legislation, safeguarding responsibilities, and related case law. The postholder manages a complex caseload independently and provides professional advice, mentoring, and quality assurance to colleagues and external professionals.
