Skilled Electrical Assembler, Ilkeston
£35k per annumAn exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Panel Wiring Technicians to join a well-established engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and delivery of advanced industrial control and automation solutions.
Working within a modern workshop environment, you will be responsible for building and wiring bespoke control panels and electrical systems used across a variety of industrial sectors.

Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: Core hours of 9:30am – 4pm with flexibility either side to complete 40 hours per week.
- Friday: 9:30am – 1pm (subject to contracted hours being completed and project deadlines being met).
Key Responsibilities of a Skilled Electrical Assembler :
- Build and wire electrical control panels from engineering drawings and schematics.
- Install and connect electrical components including PLC equipment, relays, contactors, transformers and terminal blocks.
- Route, terminate and label wiring to a high standard.
- Carry out electrical testing, inspections and fault-finding activities.
- Ensure completed builds meet quality, safety and customer requirements.
- Work closely with engineers and colleagues to resolve technical issues and support project delivery.
- Maintain accurate build and testing documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
- Ensure a safe, clean and organised working environment at all times.
Skills & Experience Required of a Skilled Electrical Assembler :
We would be keen to hear from candidates currently working as a Panel Wirer, Electrical Technician, Electrical Fitter, Control Panel Builder, Electrical Assembly Technician or similar.
Essential
- Previous experience in control panel wiring or electrical assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical components and control systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using electrical hand tools and testing equipment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Experience within industrial automation, control systems or manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices.
