About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic motivated and experienced healthcare professional to join our Podiatry Theatre Service as a Band 6 Team Leader for Podiatric Theatre Services This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership within the podiatry theatre environment while supporting the delivery of safe effective and high-quality patient care

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day running of podiatry operating theatre sessions leading a team of staff and ensuring an excellent patient experience from admission through to discharge.

In addition to theatre leadership responsibilities, the post holder will support patient admissions, maintain accurate clinical documentation, utilise electronic patient information systems and provide follow-up care within dressing and wound management clinics

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership

• Lead and coordinate podiatry theatre lists and surgery, ensuring safe and efficient patient flow.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team.
• Act as a role model, promoting high standards of patient care and professional practice.
• Support service development, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
• Monitor stock levels and resources to support efficient service delivery.

Patient Care

• Admit patients for podiatric surgical procedures, ensuring required documentation and assessments are completed.
• Assist in pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative care.
• Deliver high-quality wound care and dressing clinic services.
• Provide patient education and support regarding recovery and ongoing care.

Documentation and Data Systems

• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive patient records.
• Use electronic patient record systems and digital platforms for clinical documentation and administration.
• Enter and monitor patient data to support service performance.
• Ensure compliance with information governance and confidentiality standards.

Team Leadership and Management

• Support staff development through supervision, mentorship and training.
• Assist with workforce planning and roster coordination.
• Participate in recruitment, induction and appraisal processes.
• Promote a positive, collaborative and patient-focused culture.

Qualifications
Essential

• NMC Registered Nurse / HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
• Knowledge of a broad range of theatre procedures and instrumentation/ processes equivalent to post graduate level acquired through Diploma / Degree plus experience and further study or qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge associated with the practice setting

Desirable

• Health care leadership / management qualification

Experience
Essential

• Recent experience within theatres working as a registered practitioner in an acute practice setting involving the supervision / education of junior staff
• Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
• Evidence of effective multi-professional working
• Experienced mentor / assessor / student supervisor
• Experience of supporting the implementation change including new procedures/ processes
• Evidence of the ability to confidently lead / coordinate a shift / area of the department
• Evidence of the ability to organise others and forward plan and review/ adjust staff rotas
• Experienced in learning from incidents / complaints and supporting changes in practice
• Wide knowledge of a range or pre and post-operative care, ability to plan and organise duties / service requirements associated with physical and human resources , ability to allocate tasks / duties to a range of staff
• Can demonstrate an understanding of human resource management associated with codes of practice / professional and Trust guidelines
• Can demonstrate understanding of how to review/ plan staff rotas in accordance with Trust guidance / service need and mitigate workforce risks associated with staff deployment
