Salary: £46,142 - £49,282 per annum (pay award pending)

Newcastle Fostering Service is excited to invite applications for the new role of Assistant Team Manager within our Placement Resource Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a service that is ambitious for children, committed to high-quality practice, and passionate about securing the right homes for every young person who needs one.

About the Role
As Assistant Team Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring children and carers receive the best possible service. Working closely with Placement Officers, Supervising Social Workers, colleagues across Children's Services, and partners in commissioning and independent provider teams, you will help oversee:

* Accommodation searches
* Linking and matching activities
* Decision-making that prioritises children's needs, safety, and wellbeing

You will also support the Team Manager by providing day-to-day leadership, advice, and professional guidance. This includes supervising staff, contributing to service development, and deputising for the Team Manager when required. The role may involve some unsociable hours, and a flexible approach is essential to meet the needs of children and carers.

About You
To apply, you must:

* Hold a recognised social work qualification
* Be registered with Social Work England
* Have at least three years' post-qualifying experience

You will bring:
Strong knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practice
Well-developed skills in direct work with children and carers
A trauma-informed and restorative approach to practice We particularly welcome applications from those with experience in fostering, placement work, or accommodation-based services
