Job summary

• Accountable for professional and clinical leadership and oversight of Pan Trust Talking Therapies Service.
• Accountable for the quality and outcome metrics in Talking Therapies and governance of psychological therapies across the service.
• Accountable for developing and implementing the clinical workforce plan and clinical model across the Talking Therapies Service
• Lead on the recovery and sustainability of Talking Therapies performance and clinical outcomes.
• Responsible for the pathways and interface between Talking Therapies and other Trust clinical services to ensure the most efficient use of clinical resources balancing demand and capacity
• Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to clients with highly complex and contentious mental health conditions or learning disabilities which include challenging behaviours and possible risk of physical aggression.
• To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
• To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
• To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.

Main duties of the job

• Exercise supervisory/professional responsibility for all psychological therapists in Talking Therapies.
• Provide leadership in multi-disciplinary training and development across Talking Therapies.
• Provide leadership in service audit and development in Talking Therapies.
• Provide leadership in service evaluation and research
• Ensure that a psychological perspective is brought to service redesign and cultural change.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification
Essential

• Post-graduate doctoral level training in Applied Psychology (or its equivalent as accredited by the BPS including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
• Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
• HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist.
• Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

• Registration with BPS

Experience
Essential

• Substantial experience in working as a qualified applied psychologist within the mental health, including a wide variety of client groups
• Substantial experience in Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
• Substantial experience in providing clinical and professional leadership to other qualified and non-qualified members of the profession.

Knowledge
Essential

• Evidence- based practice relevant to the role.
• Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice.
