Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Programme Manager PMO & Efficiency within our Directorate of Transformation & Sustainability based at Ailsa Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
36 hours per week. Monday to Friday.
What You Will Do
- Leading and managing a range of discrete projects under the Programme Management Office (PMO) umbrella. The post holder will ensure that standard project management methodologies are applied to the projects under the auspices of the PMO function. The Senior Programme Manager will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring progress on all aspects of their projects, enabling robust weekly and monthly reports to be delivered to key organisational fora.
- A key function of the role will be the development of standardised reports on progress, with exception highlighting on risks and obstacles. The post will be responsible for the maintenance, development and management of programmes, ensuring adequacy of robust governance and control arrangements / systems are in place.
- Specifically, the post holder will engage with the Director Sponsors and Programme Groups and individual project leads to ensure a robust project management approach is in place to progress and successfully deliver.
- The post holder will need to work closely with Finance colleagues to track progress, slippage and delivery of efficiency and transformation programmes.
- The post holder will be required to test and challenge schemes with project leads, confirming savings values and performance against quality-related KPIs and gaining evidence for assurance purposes.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
- Masters degree or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience in a relevant discipline.
- A qualification in programme management or demonstrable experience in this area and a track record in delivering strategic programmes of work across a significant range of services.
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate a practical and theoretical understanding of programme management tools and techniques.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework and guidance for the NHS, and the Integration of Health and Social Care, including practical application of these together with the policy and planning framework nationally, regionally and locally.
- Demonstrable awareness of the policy framework for health and social care delivery and its interface with planning partners, particularly IJBs/Health and Social Care Partnerships.
- Recent experience of working in the NHS, other public sector or relevant organisations within a relevant role associated with strategic service planning and development.
- Knowledge of practical application of software packages in support of the key result areas.
- Ability and demonstrable experience in the drafting and presentation of papers, reports and related correspondence for the NHS Board, associated Governance groups, Directors and senior managers.
- Significant experience of working directly with Directors, Non Executive Directors and senior managers.
- A pragmatic and flexible approach to problem solving.
- Developed awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability, and mental agility, to work through issues and think at both a strategic and operational level.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication and influencing skills (both written and oral) and an ability to establish productive working relationships
