R&D Scientist

We have an exciting, temporary opportunity to join our Research and Development team at our Haverhill manufacturing site as an R&D Scientist.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of R&D activities, including analytical chemistry, formulation development, process development, and spray drying. Working within a collaborative and innovative environment, you will support the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), drug products, and enabling technologies.
We are seeking a motivated and flexible scientist who enjoys solving technical challenges, is keen to learn, and thrives when working as part of a team.
Your Responsibilities
You will:
Support the development of new pharmaceutical products and manufacturing processes across a range of R&D projects.
Conduct analytical testing of APIs, intermediates, raw materials, and drug products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer, and other analytical methods.
Assist in the development, optimisation, and transfer of analytical methods under the guidance of experienced scientists.
Contribute to formulation and process development activities, including spray drying and other particle engineering technologies.
Generate high-quality experimental records, technical reports, and scientific documentation.
Analyse and interpret experimental data to support project objectives and decision-making.
Collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Develop technical knowledge and expertise through training and practical experience across multiple scientific disciplines.
Our Requirements
BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
A strong interest in pharmaceutical development, analytical chemistry, and process development.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and communicate scientific data.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to work across a variety of projects and technical disciplines.
Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
