The Project Manager will become a member of the Onshore Development Team based in Glasgow. This role encompasses all aspects of project development to ensure the effective delivery of Onshore renewable wind and repower projects to meet SPR’s ambitious Onshore pipeline growth targets.
You will focus on the delivery of planning consents/permits for the projects with all necessary financial approval and budgetary control associated. You will establish strong relationships with all major stakeholders including Regulators, Planning Authorities, Governments, Communities, landowners, land agents, legal advisors, sub consultants and suppliers.
Most activities will be based in SPR’s Head Office in Glasgow, however some travel may be required to facilitate project meetings and site visits.
What you’ll be doing
Lead the successful development and delivery of renewable energy projects, including wind farms, solar developments and battery energy storage facilities. You will provide strategic project and commercial guidance, oversee budgets, forecasting and cost control, manage project risks, and assess project viability to ensure successful outcomes. The role also includes leading multidisciplinary project teams and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage the planning and consenting process from inception through to determination, including the development of consent and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) strategies. You will oversee the preparation and review of Environmental Statements, planning applications, appeals and public inquiries, while working closely with land specialists to secure the rights necessary for project delivery.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external consultants, contractors, grid operators and key stakeholders. You will coordinate grid connection studies and applications, manage supplier performance, and engage effectively with Local Authorities, government departments, statutory consultees and other stakeholders to secure project approvals, resolve objections and identify innovative solutions that support project progression.
What you’ll bring
- Project Management capability and experience.
- Planning/Environmental Qualification or Technical discipline.
- Renewable project design techniques and requirements and/or experience of consenting major infrastructure projects in the UK.
- Environmental Impact Assessment detailed knowledge and awareness.
- Knowledge of the local and national planning process.
- Some awareness of energy yield assessment.
- Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills, including land negotiations.
- The ability to oversee the compilation of high-quality Environmental Impact Assessments.
- The ability to develop and deliver high quality planning applications and fit for purpose consents.
- A highly developed understanding of the impacts of construction on the environment.
- Be an innovative and creative thinker, excellent communicator and you must be highly organised and used to working to very challenging deadlines.
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
