About you...
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people to fulfil their potential in life. In this role, you will support teaching and learning, develop resources and provide administrative support, while making a meaningful difference every day. We will support you to be at your best, so that together we can achieve the best outcomes for the children and young people we work with.
You will have recent experience of supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and using a range of behaviour support strategies. You will be supporting students with both general and specific learning difficulties, including those who are neurodiverse.
A sound understanding of child development and learning processes is key to succeed in this role. Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines will also be essential.
About the team...
The Virtual School works with a multi-disciplinary team including SEND, schools, colleges, businesses, universities, social workers, personal advisors, parents, guardians and foster carers to support children and young people through school and onto either further education, employment or training.
We are a team committed to empowering our children and young people to realise their potential. By helping you be your best, we strengthen our team and the impact we make.
Key responsibilities...
- You will assist in developing and maintaining the highest standards of functional skills teaching and learning possible for identified children and young people who attend tuition at Stellar Grove.
- You will provide one-to-one support to students as required, including those with an EHCP, with a focus on building trust and relationships.
- You will be helping students manage stress and anxiety, in and outside the classroom, providing co-regulation and reflective learning opportunities to enable them to fully participate in the learning.
- You will update Stellar Grove tracking documents, ensuring that detailed and accurate records are maintained in respect of the children and young people attending sessions.
- You will keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, i.e. after school clubs, community activities and tuition safeguarding guidance for providers.
Our benefits...
- Paid employee volunteering scheme.
- Local government pension scheme, with life insurance cover.
- Recognition of continuous service attained within the NHS and UKHSA when calculating some benefits. (Terms and Conditions apply)
- Career development through internal and external training opportunities.
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave.
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing
- Inclusive and social working environment with a variety of staff networks and a sports and social club.
- (pro rata for part time)
