Secondary Teacher - Alternative Provision (Behaviour / SEND)

Salary: £30,900 - £41,200 per annum (dependent on experience)
We are proud to be working in partnership with a respected Trust of specialist schools across the Wirral and Liverpool, recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Secondary Teacher to join their Alternative Provision settings on a full-time basis.
These specialist provisions support young people with a range of additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many students have faced barriers to learning within mainstream education and benefit from a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment that enables them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

About the RoleAs a Secondary Teacher within Alternative Provision, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them overcome challenges and develop the confidence needed to succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to small groups of secondary-aged learners
- Support pupils in re-engaging with education through personalised and inclusive teaching approaches
- Manage behaviour effectively using clear expectations, consistency, and restorative practices
- Build positive and trusting relationships that promote attendance, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, senior leaders, and external professionals
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
- Travel between Trust sites across Wirral and Liverpool when required
We are seeking an adaptable and compassionate professional who is committed to improving outcomes for young people facing additional challenges.
Essential Skills and Experience- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils displaying challenging behaviour
- Previous experience within Alternative Provision, SEN, SEMH, or similar specialist settings
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites where required

All quoted pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is initially offered on a temporary basis, although opportunities for permanent employment may become available.
