Learning and Behaviour Support Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive school in Shrewsbury is seeking a dedicated Learning & Behaviour Support Assistant to join its specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Hub . This rewarding role involves supporting children with complex learning, communication, and emotional needs, ensuring they can access a personalised curriculum in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting vulnerable learners, able to build positive relationships, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs and additional learning requirements within the specialist hub.
• Assist children in accessing a differentiated curriculum tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
• Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
• Build strong, supportive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and resilience.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
• A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting children with complex needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A flexible and proactive attitude towards supporting pupils and staff.
• A genuine commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and improving outcomes for children.
