Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Job summary
We are excited to welcome applications for 2 x 12-month fixed term posts working in our friendly, supportive, specialist service based at Wythenshawe Hospital. You will have solid dysphagia skills, be competent in either FEES or Videofluoroscopy. Between the two posts, cover will be provided to critical care and acute wards. You will also participate in regular instrumental clinics. There is also scope to be involved in a small dysphagia outpatient clinic. We will provide regular supervision and CPD opportunities and the opportunity to be involved in projects within and beyone the department.

Main duties of the job
To provide highly-specialised Speech and Language Therapy to adults on acute wards or in outpatient clinics with swallowing and/or communication problems. To be lead therapist in Videofluoroscopy clinics and to participate in FEES clinics as appropriate.

To co-ordinate day-to-day provision of SLT to wards and monitor activity and performance.

To actively contribute to the supervision and teaching of others, as well as in research, audit and service development of the service.

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy.
