SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism Support

Connex Education are recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with high-level additional needs on a 1:1 basis within a primary school in Derby.

The Role
The successful SEN TA will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil who is highly autistic and requires a highly individualised approach to learning and support.

The pupil generally works outside of the main classroom environment and benefits from regular movement and sensory breaks. Activities are tailored specifically to her needs, with learning currently working below Year 4 expectations.

This is a role where building a positive relationship with the pupil will be key. The successful candidate will need to be calm, patient and flexible, while being confident adapting activities and support to suit the pupil's individual needs.

We're Looking For
The school would particularly like to hear from candidates who:

* Have previous experience providing 1:1 support in a primary school

* Have experience supporting autistic children

* Understand the importance of sensory regulation and movement breaks

* Are calm, patient and reassuring in their approach

* Can adapt learning and activities around individual needs

* Are flexible and able to respond positively to changing situations

* Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

* Have experience supporting children working significantly below age-related expectations
