Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior Commercial Manager) with Residential and / or Hotel and leisure experience to work on a major project in the northern home counties. This will be working in the pre construction phase through to project delivery on site.
\n \n \nKey responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Procurement of the project in accordance with approved strategy, ensuring that orders are fully scoped, bought at best value and are correctly contracted in accordance with limits of authority. \n
- Liaising and communicating with the Client team in accordance with the \n
- contract. Managing supply chain relationships to ensure a consistent and \n
- coordinated approach to procurement. \n
- Robust implementation and management of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls of the Project. \n
- Accurate commercial reporting and contract administration. \n
- This includes (but is not limited to) interim payments, management of change \n
- accounts, cashflows, final accounting and contract administration. \n
- You will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and \n
- sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business. \n
Essential Credentials:
\n- \n
- Maintain CSCS card for the role \n
- Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role or qualified by appropriate level of experience (as noted below) \n
- Have a related Chartership such as MRICS or MCIOB \n

- Valuing interim applications \n
- Measurement and valuation techniques \n
- Management of claims including assessment of entitlement for prolongation, loss and Expense including inflation \n
Essential Knowledge
\n- \n
- Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures \n
- Commercial and financial understanding in the above context – ability to contribute to value engineering as part of the design process \n
- Understand and apply commercial & financial procedures and reporting systems \n
- Maintains detailed prelim forecasts and actual costs and intervenes were negative trends identified \n
- Management of bonds, PCGs, warranty insurances and associated risks \n
- Management of cost, value and profit \n
- Reports accurately to the monthly forecast final account \n
- Manages cash flow to the benefit of the project and business \n
- Good understanding of building technology / construction \n
- methods \n
- Full knowledge and understanding of JCT, NEC, Construction Management and Management Contracting Contracts \n
- Experience in Commercial office projects managing large MEP packages and taking projects through to CAT B finish. \n
Essential Experience
\n- \n
- Pre-construction experience \n
- Background with a main contractor on projects above £30m in value \n
- Proven track record of delivering successful construction projects safely \n
- Experience of managing field construction activities on major/complex projects \n
- Demonstratable experience in construction, including a sound knowledge of Construction methodology, process and sequence \n
- Procurement of work packages in line with the Project Procurement Strategy \n
- Conversion of the project from preconstruction to construction \n
- Communicating and liaising with the Client team in accordance with the contract \n
- Production of Tender Recommendation Reports and Contract Sum Analysis \n
- Preparation of Subcontracts for execution in line with limits of authority \n
- Procures robust packages with an understanding of package interfaces \n
- Manages the change process in accordance with the contract \n
- Prepares bid documentation to ensure a fully defined tender \n
