English Teaching Role in a Good School
A well-regarded Good school in Stevenage is seeking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable English Teacher to join its successful English department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values literacy, creativity, and high-quality teaching.

About the Role
You will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that foster a love of learning and academic achievement.
Students study a diverse range of texts, including classic and contemporary literature, poetry, drama, fiction, and non-fiction, while developing analytical, evaluative, and creative writing skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting them in achieving strong outcomes and progressing to higher education and future careers.
The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative department that is committed to curriculum development, student progress, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire a love of reading and writing
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback
Monitor student attainment and progress effectively
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental initiatives
Support literacy across the wider school community
Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience working in a Good or improving school
Ability to contribute to enrichment activities such as debating, reading clubs, or creative writing programmes
Strong examination preparation experience
