British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and highly versatile educator to join our faculty as a Teacher of Key Stage 3 English and Mathematics . Located in the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands, this unique role is pivotal to our lower school, ensuring our younger students develop a rock-solid, balanced foundation in both core literacy and numeracy.
As a school that prides itself on the "whole student," we are looking for a practitioner who can move seamlessly between the worlds of language and logic, fostering academic confidence and critical thinking in our students across Years 7, 8, and 9.
The Role
Dual-Discipline Excellence: Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in both English and Mathematics exclusively at the Key Stage 3 level.
Curriculum Alignment: Implement and deliver a curriculum closely aligned with the UK National Curriculum , ensuring students build the precise skills needed for a seamless transition into their IGCSE studies (KS4).
Foundational Leadership: Guide younger students through the mechanics of analytical reading, writing, algebraic reasoning, and mathematical problem-solving under a unified approach to academic discipline.
Creative Innovation: Utilize our well-resourced departments and digital tools to bring both text and numbers to life, catering to diverse learning styles within the lower school.
Community Engagement: Contribute to the "extended family" atmosphere of BWIC, supporting school-wide events, house competitions, and the pastoral development of our pupils.
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Generalist/Middle School Specialist: Holds a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) and a strong degree in English, Mathematics, Education, or a related discipline.
Dual-Subject Confidence: Must be completely confident and competent in the delivery of both English and Mathematics at KS3 , showing the intellectual flexibility to switch mindsets throughout the school day.
UK Curriculum Expertise: Familiarity with the UK National Curriculum is essential , with a clear understanding of the academic milestones required for students aged 11 to 14.
Dynamic Mentor: Someone who brings high energy, patience, and creative pedagogy to the classroom, understanding how to motivate lower school students as they transition into secondary education.
