Manufacturing Support Technician

£37.13k per annum

Torbay Pharma are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Technical Support Technician to join our newly created Process Engineering and Optimisation team based in Paignton, Devon. 

This is a full time and permanent role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for executing manufacturing support activities, driving initial problem solving, and implementing Lean improvements with a Six Sigma mindset, while developing towards a Senior Support Technician position.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for continuous improvement, a technical mindset and great stakeholder management. With a clearly defined progress path to Senior Support Technician, this role would suit someone who is proactive, with a desire to learn. Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be ideal but full training will be available.

About the role

Reporting to the Technical Support Lead, you will deliver technical tasks and project work. Providing frontline operational and technical support across fill / finish manufacturing and /or packaging operations. The role includes (but is not limited to) executing trials, validation support activities, troubleshooting, process data capture, Lean activities, and product lifecycle changes.

What you can expect in a Technical Support Technican role:

  • Act as a point of contact for technical issues and carry out initial structured problem solving. 
  • Support daily manufacturing operations to ensure process reliability and compliance.
  • Collect, analyse and report process data to support continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist with equipment qualification, validation and verification activities.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement process and equipment improvements.
  • Implement Lean tools such as 5S and waste reduction and embed these practices as the standard operating procedure / mindset. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with GMP and company procedures.
  • Support process trials, investigations and lifecycle changes as required.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or technical environment would be ideal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to develop, Lean and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • High attention to detail, ideally with an understanding of GMP requirements.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage technical tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to learning and personal development.
