Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Motherwell

Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Electrical Principal Design Engineer based from our Maxim Park office in Motherwell, Scotland, and you'll be part of our legacy.

To ensure that the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation design and procurement of specialist packages, are created and delivered to meet project requirements.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the design of electrical systems including LVAC, DC, MV distribution.
• Organise the creation of and verify the following engineering deliverables; s pecifications, sc hedules, r eports, plans and dr awings.
• Input to multi discipline equipment specifications and design.
• Review and check vendor document / information for EC&I compliance with
  project specifications.
• Lead and support technical reviews (constructability, O&M).
• Ensure design risks are considered, oversee design risk assessments, and
  communicate residual design risks to others.
• Provide strong technical support and identify innovative and robust solutions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and
  suppliers, managing their input in the design, development, pricing and delivery
  of technical solutions.
• Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that the business stream is
  at the forefront of the industry both technically and in using the latest technologies and standards
• Mentor and train engineers within the team

Who we're looking for

• Clear focus on collaboration and building relationships with other designers and
  Project teams to deliver cost effective and acceptable design solutions
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and write clearly and succinctly
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in design.
• Excellent IT Skills are desirable and Microsoft Office is essential. Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory materia
