Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented PhD researcher to join our dynamic gas trading team. As a PhD researcher, you will contribute to cutting-edge research on the pricing, risk management, and financial dynamics of gas energy markets, with a focus on the evolving landscape of trading strategies and market behaviours. Key Responsibilities include :
- Conduct original and high-quality research in the field of gas energy commodities, focusing on market modelling, pricing strategies, and risk management techniques.
- Analyse market data, including spot and futures prices, trading volumes, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors that impact the natural gas market.
- Develop advanced quantitative models and simulation tools to support research into financial trading strategies for gas commodities.
- Investigate the impact of regulatory changes, market liberalization, and technological advancements on gas energy markets and trading practices.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in energy economics, financial markets, and commodity trading techniques to ensure research relevance and innovation.
- Recently graduated or graduating PhD in a relevant field such as Energy Economics, Financial Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
- Strong background in financial modelling, econometrics, and/or quantitative analysis applied to commodity markets, particularly gas energy markets.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, GAMS or similar tools used for data analysis, modelling, and simulation.
- Understanding of financial markets
- Experience with statistical analysis, time series modelling, and machine learning techniques applied to market data.
- Familiarity with gas supply chains, infrastructure, and the factors that influence energy pricing and trading strategies.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of gas and/or LNG economics
- Knowledge of energy trading platforms
- Experience in research collaboration with industry partners or regulatory bodies.
- Previous work or internship experience in energy markets, financial trading, or related areas
