Senior AI Infrastructure Leader | Pharmaceutical R&D We’re supporting a global pharmaceutical organisation building a major AI function within its computational discovery function — and they’re looking for a senior technical leader to shape the infrastructure behind it.
This is an opportunity to define how cutting-edge biomedical AI is supported at scale. You’ll own the technical strategy and reference architecture spanning GPU/HPC compute, storage, networking, cloud, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code , creating the foundations required to train, fine-tune and serve large-scale biomedical foundation models.
The role sits at the intersection of AI, infrastructure engineering and scientific R&D .
What you’ll be responsible for:
• Defining the organisation’s AI infrastructure architecture, standards and roadmap
• Designing infrastructure for large-scale and distributed AI training
• Shaping hybrid on-premise/cloud environments with portability, performance and cost in mind
• Supporting secure AI workloads operating on sensitive research data
• Partnering with enterprise IT, data teams and cloud providers
• Establishing engineering standards and mentoring technical teams
• Acting as a senior authority for complex AI infrastructure challenges
We’re looking for someone with deep experience across:
GPU and high-performance computing | Distributed training | Cloud & hybrid infrastructure | Kubernetes | Networking | Storage & file systems | Terraform/IaC | Security & resilience | AI/ML platforms
This isn’t simply about keeping infrastructure running.
It’s about designing the technical foundation on which the next generation of computational drug discovery will operate.
Hybrid working — approximately 3-4 days per week on-site.
