Training schedule
Learners can expect mentoring and shadowing elements to the programme in the workplace, as well as independent study and specialist coaching from a vocationally competent learning coach.
Applicants will come to understand how pupils learn and develop, while considering theories and influences in child development in relation to key stages. This will also allow apprentices to develop their own learning style. Through both off-the-job learning and working with a direct subject specialist, learners will come to develop technology skills that will support them in their role, and by working with teachers, apprentices will also understand and support formative and summative assessments for learning.
Themes that will be covered:
- Contributing to the overall ethos and aims of the school, and promoting diversity, inclusion, equality and acceptance of all learners
- Implementing safeguarding policies and safe practice, including online safety, in line with legislation, policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality
- Promoting engagement and learning behaviours to support the development of independent learners
- Delivering individual and small group teaching within clearly defined/planned parameters in partnership with the teacher and other professionals
- Contributing to assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of learner outcomes and participation as agreed with the teacher
Once EPA has been completed and passed, the apprentice will achieve a level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship as pass, merit or distinction grade.
