What will you do on a day-to-day basis?

The successful candidate will:

• Be experienced in teaching EAL across the whole school, with IB PYP, MYP, DP and IGCSE familiarity highly valuable.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of language-acquisition theory, the WIDA framework, and the IB philosophy.

• Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction that develops students’ English proficiency across the four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

• Collaborate effectively with classroom and subject teachers to scaffold content, adapt materials, and support student access to the full curriculum.

• Integrate inquiry-based and transdisciplinary approaches, promoting independent and confident learners.

• Encourage student voice, reflection, and goal-setting in the language learning process.

• Promote international-mindedness, linguistic diversity, and a sense of belonging.

• Demonstrate excellent planning, organisation, and professionalism.

• Be visible and approachable, with strong interpersonal skills and a warm sense of humour.

• Be flexible, creative, resilient, and committed to developing inclusive learning environments.

• Work collaboratively as part of the Inclusion Team and wider school community.

• Teach or support additional subjects as required, depending on student needs and timetable structures.

What will you bring to the table?

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience of IB PYP MYP, DP, IGCSE or similar international curricula.

• Proven experience teaching English as an Additional Language in international or multilingual settings.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education or another relevant field with a recognised teaching qualification.

• Strong knowledge of WIDA, differentiation, scaffolding, and inclusive teaching practices.

• Fluent English proficiency (verbal and written).

• A commitment to continuous learning and staying informed of current research in language acquisition.

• A passion for supporting multilingual learners, empowering them to succeed across the curriculum.

• Creativity, compassion, and a strong belief in the growth potential of every student.
  Preferred:

• A postgraduate qualification or certification in EAL / TESOL.

• Experience leading workshops or supporting staff in developing EAL strategies.

• Capacity to teach additional languages - French/ Spanish/ Dutch
