About the Role of Support Worker 2
SAMH Easterhill Service is looking for a support worker 2 to be part of a service which makes a positive impact on the lives of the people who use the service.
A support Worker is a flexible multi-skilled role within a team, carrying out key-worker responsibility for service users, providing direct emotional wellbeing and day to day practical support with daily living tasks, administering medication to individuals to improve their mental health and wellbeing. You will support people to develop outcome-focused person-centred, assessments, support plans and reviews. Working with people on a 1-2-1 or group basis, in people’s homes and communities, the Support Worker will work with individuals to identify their strengths, issues and goals. They encourage individuals to recognise and use their existing strengths, facilitate building new skills to build momentum in independent living skills, self-management, personal recovery and building capacity.
You will support the people who use our service in partnership with mental health services and primary health care services, enabling individuals to achieve their chosen outcomes and practice a recovery focussed model of working.
You’ll be part of a team helping people to live well and achieve the things in life that really matter to them. Based in Tollcross, Easterhill service uses recovery focussed interventions, supporting people to develop skills and positive support networks towards living an independent life in the community. The service is commissioned by Glasgow City Council to support people living with severe and enduring mental health issues and complex challenges, such as neurodevelopmental conditions, to live fulfilled lives and achieve their goals.
This exciting opportunity will use recovery focussed interventions, supporting people to develop skills and positive support networks towards living an independent life in the community.
What we are looking for
In this role your attitude and personality matter as much as your skills and experiences. Everyone we support is different and we use individually tailored plans to help them to identify where their strengths lie and support them in the areas where they may need it. We are looking for initiative, compassion, energy and determination and the ability to motivate and inspire people who use our services to develop their skills and self-confidence and realise their aspirations. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity, you will go home each day knowing you made a difference.
Respect and dignity for the people who use our services is at the heart of everything we do. We will ask you to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We’re looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations.
Do you have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and knowledge and experience in supporting people? Ideally for this role you will have experience supporting people with mental health problems, key-working and case management.
Supporting the people who use our services means there are a variety of shift patterns on a rota basis including evenings, weekends, sleepovers (subject to requirement) and on-calls. You will be allocated to a service base but be required to work flexibly across local services.
What we will provide for you
You will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities. You will be given the chance to develop your knowledge and skills, as well as develop professionally. Some of our benefits include;
- Fully funded SVQ qualification to meet the conditions of your SSSC registration (delete for non-registered roles)
- Reimbursement of PVG, Disclosure & SSSC annual fees and registration costs.
- Funded continuous learning and development opportunities, access to over 100 courses online in addition to classroom and virtual training sessions
- 30 days annual leave rising to 33 after 5 years’ service
- 4 public holidays
- 2 paid wellbeing days off per year to use on what matters to you.
