Production Manager, Chesterfield

Salary: £55,000 per annum

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a busy manufacturing operation in Chesterfield.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving performance, quality, and efficiency across production.

You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing activities, ensuring production runs smoothly, safely, and in line with business targets.

This includes managing teams, improving processes, and maintaining high standards across all areas of production.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver daily production plans in line with customer demand
• Oversee workflow across multiple departments including machining, assembly, and finishing
• Ensure all products meet required quality standards and specifications
• Lead, motivate, and develop production teams
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste
• Work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth operations
• Manage machinery upkeep and coordinate maintenance activities
• Maintain a strong focus on health & safety compliance
• Monitor production costs, labour efficiency, and material usage
• Investigate and resolve production issues, delays, or defects
• Track performance through KPIs and production reporting

Skills/Experience required

• Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of production processes (experience in similar industries advantageous)
• Knowledge of CNC machinery and automated production systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proactive, resilient, and results-driven
• Previous experience in a Production Manager or Supervisor role
• Demonstrated success in improving performance metrics such as output, efficiency, and waste reduction
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies (desirable)
