Design & Production Engineer

Workforce Group are working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Design & Production Engineer for their team in Daventry. Our client specialises in precision-engineered automotive components and high-performance exhaust systems, working with prestigious global manufacturers to deliver innovative engineering solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer to work across the full product lifecycle - from initial concept and CAD design through to prototype development, production launch and continuous improvement . If you enjoy combining design engineering with hands-on manufacturing , this role offers the opportunity to see your work progress from an initial concept through to a finished product. Key Responsibilities * Develop 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA V5 .
* Support concept development, design feasibility and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
* Work closely with production, quality teams, suppliers and other engineering departments.
* Develop designs for prototype and production manufacture.
* Design and support tooling, jigs and fixtures.
* Coordinate prototype builds and support the transition into production.
* Review first-off parts and measurement data, implementing improvements where required.
* Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
* Develop process flows, Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Support capacity studies, Run-at-Rate trials and production readiness.
* Apply GD&T, datum structures and tolerance stack-ups to engineering designs.
* Resolve design and manufacturing issues during production launch.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and manufacturing costs.
* Support NPI projects and continuous improvement initiatives . About You
We're looking for a technically capable and proactive engineer with experience across design and manufacturing . Ideally, you'll have: * Experience within an engineering design or manufacturing environment.
* Strong working knowledge of CATIA V5 , including 3D modelling and 2D drawings.
* Good understanding of GD&T, datum structures and engineering tolerances .
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling and Design for Manufacture.
* Experience with NPI, prototype development or production engineering .
* Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP and Control Plans.
* Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience would be advantageous.
* Engineering experience from aerospace, rail, marine, defence, mining, chemical processing or similar sectors will also be considered.
* HND, Degree or equivalent technical experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering is desirable. The Ideal Candidate
You'll be: * Practical, hands-on and technically minded.
* A strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
* Organised and able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
* A confident communicator who can contribute to technical discussions and design reviews.
