Protocol Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Sunderland supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex additional needs.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, adaptable and passionate about making a real difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and communication needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and sensory processing difficulties
- Use visual supports, routines and structured communication strategies
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Support engagement in both classroom and practical learning activities
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Knowledge of autism and sensory needs
- Calm, resilient and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
