Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Team Leader / Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our dedicated team in the West Wing Operating Theatre Department .

The West Wing theatre complex comprises 14 operating theatres and 5 satellite areas , delivering both elective and emergency surgical care . Our diverse surgical specialities include:
  • Neurosurgery
  • Maxillofacial Surgery
  • ENT
  • Ophthalmology
  • Plastic Surgery
  • General Paediatrics
  • Paediatric Orthopaedics
  • Craniofacial Surgery
You will be expected to provide high-quality anaesthetic care to Adults, Children, and Neonates , supporting a wide range of complex procedures.

This is a challenging and highly rewarding role for a motivated practitioner ready to take the next step in leadership. You'll play a vital part in service delivery, staff development, and patient care excellence.

Main duties of the job
  • Clinical Expertise :
    • Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care in a senior capacity.
    • Apply at least 3 years of experience in anaesthetics or critical care.
    • Supervise and assess clinical practice, having completed a relevant supervisor/assessor course.
  • Professional Development :
    • Maintain a record of study toward a critical care/anaesthetic module.
    • Engage in ongoing learning with support from the education team and structured orientation.
    • Participate in regular appraisals to guide career progression.
  • Team Leadership & Communication :
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Lead effectively within a busy multidisciplinary team.
    • Contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment.
  • Education & Mentorship :
    • Support the development of junior staff in line with the directorate's Education Strategy.
    • Facilitate learning opportunities and career advancement for theatre staff.

Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1. 8. 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice), ODP HCPC registration or National certification in area of Practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC/HCPC revalidation
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in anaesthetics or recovery
  • Evidence of achievement of a NMC or HCPC approved Mentorship qualification.
  • Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice
Desirable
  • UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post or equivalent qualification for ODPs
