About the role

• This is a full-time role; however, flexibility in this role will be considered
• We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
• This role can be based from either of our supply sites in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Leeds or Derby

What you'll do

• Provide expert, evidence-based case management services for referrals relating to attendance, fitness for work and other requests for OH advice
• Provide specialist advice to colleagues and managers during periods of ill health and/or sickness absence, along with professional, comprehensive and evidence-based written reports including recommendations
• Where appropriate, escalate, liaise, and refer cases to the retained OHP
• Provide expert advice in respect of legislative requirements and best practice relating to OH
• Ensure that all new starters are screened and advice is given to managers where appropriate on managing a colleague’s health condition
• To evaluate the results of medicals and surveillance provided and ensure that the correct advice in relation to fitness is communicated, escalating where clinically appropriate to other experts 
• Provide advice and recommendations to managers where a colleague’s health is impacting on their ability to perform tasks or where tasks are impacting on a colleague’s health
• Support with health surveillance and baseline screening activities as required to ensure legal compliance and in accordance with the Health Surveillance Matrix
• Supporting OH technicians in their role
• Liaise with other colleagues in other departments to understand the changes to work environments and to advise on the impact these can have on colleague health
• Encourage the health and wellbeing of all colleagues through advice and health promotion campaigns
• Protect confidential information and colleague confidentiality
• Ensure OH records are accurate, secure, and kept up to date
• Maintain up-to-date professional and legislative knowledge and standards through a programme of continuous development 

About you

You'll fit right into this role if you:

• Have a good understanding of relevant legislation, including the Equality Act and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
• Have knowledge of regulations relating to vibration, noise and COSHH
• Understand occupational health issues that can affect colleagues, including stress, workplace hazards and occupational diseases
• Maintain a valid and up-to-date NMC registration and work in line with NMC standards and guidelines, including professional practice, clinical supervision, and continuous learning and development
• Can work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
• Take initiative, prioritise workloads and consistently meet deadlines
• Are confident using Microsoft 365 applications and maintaining accurate digital health records, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
