Caseworker

Dr Beccy Cooper MP is looking for a Caseworker to join her constituency team to support with responding to correspondence from constituents on a variety of issues including responding to campaign and policy emails.

The role is 4 days per week and fixed term for 2 months.

This is a people-focused role helping residents across Worthing West with problems they are facing. We are looking for someone who is organised, empathetic, writes clearly and enjoys helping people.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to constituents by email, telephone and in person

• Listen carefully to people's concerns and gather the information we need to help them
• Draft clear, helpful responses to constituents including in response to standard campaign emails and policy enquiries
• Contact councils, Government departments, public services and other organisations on constituents' behalf
• Log new cases, keep records up to date and make sure agreed actions are followed up
• Manage your own caseload, with support on more difficult or complex cases
• Handle personal and sometimes sensitive information carefully and confidentially
• Work flexibly with the rest of our small team when needed
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with data protection legislation
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
Required experience:
• Experience working in an office
• Polite, confident and empathetic approach to the public
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle difficult or emotive situations in a sensitive manner
• Highly motivated and well organised
• Interest and willingness to learn about relevant casework areas eg welfare, pensions
• Proficient in relevant software, Outlook, Office and ideally caseworker management systems such as "Caseworker"
