About the Team
You'll be joining a dedicated and supportive Education Safeguarding Team led by an experienced Senior Safeguarding Manager. Working alongside skilled Safeguarding Officers, the team provides expert advice, training, and challenge to schools and settings across Lambeth. It's a collaborative, high-performing team with a strong shared commitment to improving safeguarding practice and achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

About the Role
Safeguarding Advisor (Education and Early Years) – PO4
Are you passionate about safeguarding children and young people and committed to improving outcomes across education and Early Years settings?
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Safeguarding Advisor to support, challenge and improve safeguarding practice across schools, academies, colleges, alternative provision, independent schools, nurseries, childminders and other Early Years providers.
In this influential role, you will provide expert safeguarding advice and guidance, undertake quality assurance and safeguarding audits, deliver training, and work collaboratively with partners to strengthen safeguarding arrangements for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert safeguarding advice, guidance and support to educational and Early Years settings.
- Support Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Headteachers, Governors, Managers and Early Years Leaders with safeguarding and child protection matters.
- Assist settings in meeting their statutory safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) , Working Together to Safeguard Children , and the EYFS Statutory Framework .
- Undertake safeguarding audits, reviews and quality assurance activities, identifying strengths, risks and areas for improvement.
- Support the development and review of safeguarding policies, procedures and safer working practices.
- Deliver safeguarding training, briefings and awareness sessions to professionals and leaders.
- Promote safer recruitment and safeguarding compliance across education and Early Years provision.
- Support settings with safeguarding issues including neglect, domestic abuse, online safety, attendance, contextual safeguarding, child exploitation and children with SEND.
- Analyse safeguarding information, trends and emerging risks to support continuous improvement.
- Contribute to safeguarding guidance, resources, communications and service development.
- Work collaboratively with Children's Social Care, Health, Police, safeguarding partnerships and other agencies to improve outcomes for children.
About You
You will have:
- Experience of safeguarding practice within education, Early Years, children's services or a related field.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance, including KCSIE, Working Together to Safeguard Children and the EYFS Statutory Framework.
- Experience of safeguarding audits, quality assurance, monitoring or inspection preparation.
- Strong communication, presentation and training skills.
- The ability to build positive professional relationships while providing support and appropriate challenge.
- Experience of working with a range of agencies and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify risks, themes and areas for improvement.
A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
