An established and growing distribution business is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead operational performance across a multi–site network in the South East. This senior leadership role involves overseeing warehousing, transport, inventory, customer service, and continuous improvement, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will play a crucial role in shaping operational strategy while ensuring day–to–day excellence across the business.
Day–to–day of the role:
- Lead operational performance across warehousing, distribution, and supply chain functions.
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business growth plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across productivity, service, and cost control.
- Build, mentor, and develop operational leadership teams.
- Manage budgets, KPIs, and operational reporting.
- Champion health & safety, compliance, and best practice.
- Work closely with commercial and senior leadership teams to support profitable growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in an Operations Director, Head of Operations, General Manager, or Regional Operations leadership role.
- Strong background within distribution, building materials, merchanting, logistics, or supply chain environments.
- Experience leading large teams across multiple departments or locations.
- Commercially aware with strong financial and operational management skills.
- Track record of improving operational performance and developing high–performing teams.
- Confident operating at both strategic and hands–on levels.
