Data Engineer
The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.
We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world‑class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK’s clean‑energy future.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Data Engineer to design and deliver high‑quality, scalable data solutions that support digital transformation across the Sizewell C alliance.
You will play a key role in building and maintaining data pipelines, developing robust data platforms, and ensuring accurate, accessible data is available to support business decision‑making. Working closely with BI analysts, project partners and functional teams, you will help shape and evolve the programme’s digital capability in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Data Engineering & Architecture: Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines across structured and unstructured sources, developing data lakes, warehouses and enterprise data models to support reporting and analytics.
Integration & Platform Management: Integrate datasets across multiple systems and partners, and manage cloud‑based data platforms (primarily Azure), ensuring performance, reliability and scalability.
ETL/ELT & Delivery Practices: Develop robust ETL/ELT processes and reusable components, embedding DevOps, CI/CD and automation best practices into the data engineering lifecycle.
Data Quality, Governance & Security: Ensure strong data governance, quality and security standards are applied, maintaining compliance with UK GDPR and organisational controls.
Reporting & Collaboration: Partner with BI teams to deliver trusted datasets and Power BI semantic models, supporting reporting, insights and wider digital transformation initiatives.

Proven experience working as a Data Engineer
Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling
Hands‑on experience with Azure and cloud‑based data tools
Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines
Good understanding of data architecture, warehousing and integration principles
Familiarity with DevOps concepts, including CI/CD and version control
Experience supporting enterprise reporting environments, including Power Platform or Power BI
Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
Desirable
Experience with Python, PySpark or R
Exposure to Agile delivery environments
Knowledge of data governance frameworks
Experience working in infrastructure, regulated or large‑scale project environments
Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Event Hub, IoT Hub)
Relevant Azure (e.g. DP‑203) or Power BI certifications
