Behaviour Mentor - SEN School - Barnet

A specialist SEN school in Barnet is currently recruiting a full-time Behaviour Mentor to support children and young people with Autism (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and additional learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and feel positive about education again. No two days are the same, and every small win genuinely matters. The role will include:

• Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and engage positively within school
• Managing challenging behaviour using calm and consistent strategies
• Building strong and trusting relationships with students
• Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
• Encouraging communication, confidence, and social development
• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
• Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
• A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A genuine passion for supporting young people
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and build positive relationships
