The Opportunity

We are recruiting an Expertise (professional support) lawyer to join our Global Loans team in London.

The Global Loans team is part of the wider Global Loans and Global Markets department. The expertise function drives quality, efficiency and profitability through the development of expertise resources, the capture of practice experience and partner knowledge and through the delivery of quality initiatives and legal learning programs. It also supports the firm to win work through thought leadership and enables Ashurst Perkins Coie to anticipate and react to change as 'one firm' through its coordinated network of expertise partners and expertise lawyers.The home office would be either London or Glasgow.

Key responsibilities of the role include

• Training: develop, co-ordinate and deliver training for the department, using technology and varied formats to maximise engagement and ensure compliance with SRA requirements. Assist with client training where required.
• Core guidance documents: create and curate practical core guidance documents and external resources to provide accessible, comprehensive reference materials for fee earners.
• Legal developments: monitor legal and market developments and distil these into focused, practical updates for fee earners.
• Subject matter expertise: develop subject matter expertise in one or more of the Global Loans workstreams to become a trusted expert. Use this knowledge to critically examine ways of working and enhance workstream-specific processes and Expertise resources accordingly.
• Advice: provide technical and practical advice to lawyers at all levels and across all Global Loans workstreams and Global Loans-related advice to other legal departments. Ensure advice is curated and, where relevant, other Expertise resources are improved to maximise fee earners' ability to self-serve going forward.

About you

The successful candidate will form part of the Global Loans Expertise team with two other Expertise lawyers (with respectively 22 and 14 years of practice experience) and an Expertise executive.

Skills And Experience

• England & Wales qualified solicitor or barrister with technical abilities consistent with an outstanding associate in a City or equivalent firm
• working knowledge of AI tools and legal technology as well as standard software used by fee earners and an active interest in embracing and adopting legal technology solutions in a practice setting
