This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the classroom, support teachers, and help pupils thrive.

In this role, you will primarily support one pupil with their learning both inside and outside the classroom. Some local travel may be required, therefore a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential for the post. You may also be required to assist with supporting and delivering learning elsewhere in the school as required.

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide specialist support to pupils, including those with additional needs, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
  • Use your skills, training, and experience to support individual pupils or groups.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education and Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
  • Build productive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
  • Work with teachers to plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons, adapting activities to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to record-keeping.
  • Support wider school activities, including trips, extracurricular events, and out-of-classroom learning.
  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences as required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children of the relevant age.
  • Holds NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Has training in relevant learning strategies or specialist areas, such as literacy, numeracy, bilingual support, ICT, dyslexia, or CACHE.
  • Has excellent literacy and numeracy skills and appropriate first aid training.
  • Can use ICT and other technology effectively to support learning.
  • Understands child development, learning processes, and the principles of inclusion.
  • Is flexible, positive, and able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Is confident in supporting, guiding, and training other staff as required.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, inclusion, and teamwork.

In return, you will:

Join a supportive, forward-thinking school with opportunities for training and professional development, helping you grow in your career while making a meaningful difference to pupils’ learning and development.

If you are passionate about supporting children’s education and want to play a key role in their learning, we’d love to hear from you. Find out more about Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi here:
