We are seeking a passionate and experienced French Teacher to join our team in August 2026.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging French lessons across upper primary and secondary levels, supporting students in developing strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The role focuses on building confidence in language acquisition while fostering a genuine appreciation of French language and culture.

The teacher will create interactive and creative learning experiences, support individual learning needs, integrate technology into language teaching, and contribute to wider school life through cultural and language-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality French lessons across upper primary and secondary levels

Plan engaging, student-centered lessons that develop communication and language fluency

Support the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills

Assess student progress regularly and provide clear, constructive feedback

Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners

Integrate digital tools and language learning technologies to enhance engagement

Promote French culture through classroom activities and school events

Encourage student participation in language-related activities and competitions

Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices within the MFL department

Skills and Competencies

Native or near-native proficiency in French

Strong understanding of modern language teaching methodologies (MFL)

Familiarity with Key Stage 2–3 and secondary language curriculum expectations

Ability to create engaging and interactive language lessons

Strong classroom management and communication skills

Ability to inspire students to develop confidence in a second language

Competence in using educational technology and online learning tools

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in French, Modern Languages, or a related field

Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent)

Experience teaching French in a British curriculum school is an advantage

Experience teaching across primary and secondary levels is an advantage

Experience in organising language or cultural activities is desirable
