CCTV Operator - Fulltime, Flexible

Provincial is looking for vigilant, reliable and professional CCTV Operators to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC) team, helping protect people, property and business operations across our client environments.

Working as part of a wider team of security professionals, you’ll play an important role in maintaining situational awareness, monitoring CCTV systems, identifying potential risks and providing timely, accurate information to support incident response.

What will you be doing?

• Monitor and observe: Actively monitor CCTV cameras and surveillance systems, maintaining awareness of activity across designated locations.
• Identify potential risks: Recognise suspicious behaviour, unusual activity, security breaches and other events that may require further investigation or escalation.
• Support incident response: Use available camera views to track activity, establish relevant facts and provide real-time visual updates to SOC colleagues and security teams.
• Communicate effectively: Share clear, accurate and timely information with SOC Operators, supervisors, security officers and relevant stakeholders to support an appropriate response.
• Record and report: Maintain accurate logs of observations, incidents and actions taken, ensuring information is factual, detailed and completed in line with established procedures.
• Review CCTV footage: Retrieve and review recordings when authorised, ensuring relevant footage is handled and preserved in accordance with procedures and applicable data protection requirements.
• Escalate concerns: Promptly report suspicious activity, emergencies, safety concerns and unusual events in accordance with established escalation procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality: Handle CCTV footage, personal data and sensitive operational information with discretion and integrity.
• Work as one team: Collaborate with the wider SOC team to maintain situational awareness, share information and support the effective management of incidents.
• Follow best practice: Work in accordance with site-specific procedures, CCTV operating standards and relevant security and data protection requirements.

• Good analytical skills and the ability to assess what you observe and distinguish routine activity from potential security concerns.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to describe events accurately and objectively.
• Strong attention to detail when recording observations, maintaining logs and preparing incident reports.
• Computer literacy and confidence learning CCTV monitoring, video management and incident-reporting systems.
• Sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and professional during incidents or periods of pressure.
• A strong sense of responsibility, integrity and confidentiality.
• The ability to follow procedures consistently and escalate concerns without delay.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider SOC team.
• Reliability, punctuality and a proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.

Previous experience in CCTV monitoring, a control room or a Security Operations Centre is an advantage.

Qualifications and experience

• A valid PSA Security Guard licence is required.
• Previous CCTV monitoring or control room experience is desirable.
• Experience with digital CCTV systems, video management software or incident-reporting platforms is beneficial.
• Strong basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems are essential.

• Working pattern: 12-hour shifts, working 3 or 4 shifts per week
• Operations: 24/7/365, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays as rostered
