Learning Support Assistant / Inclusion Mentor
Locations: Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire, Coventry, Solihull, Dudley, Birmingham and Sandwell
£25.00 to £30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference every day?
Do you believe that every child and young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they have faced?
Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable learners, building meaningful relationships and helping young people rediscover confidence in themselves and their future?
Bright Outcomes is seeking compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our growing team of trauma-informed Inclusion Mentors, supporting children and young people aged 4 to 25 across the Midlands.
This is not a traditional classroom support role.
Many of the learners we support have experienced significant barriers to education, including SEND, anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance, exclusion and school-based trauma. Some have been out of education for extended periods, while others require highly personalised approaches to help them engage with learning.
Success is measured not only through academic progress, but through building trust, developing confidence, increasing engagement and helping young people believe in themselves again.
Because of the unique nature of our work, our staff are known as Inclusion Mentors rather than traditional support staff. We believe that relationships are at the heart of successful outcomes.
This is a peripatetic role involving travel to home and community settings, where you will provide personalised educational and pastoral support tailored to individual learner needs. Working alongside teachers, families and other professionals, you will help young people overcome barriers, achieve their goals and build positive experiences of education.
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting literacy development, the next helping a learner prepare for an exam, develop independence skills, engage with the community or simply rebuild the confidence needed to take the next step in their educational journey.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with children and young people, either in education, care, youth work, mentoring or a similar setting
• Builds strong, trusting relationships with children, young people and families
• Understands or is willing to learn about SEND, trauma and additional needs
• Is patient, adaptable and solution-focused
• Is confident working independently whilst being part of a supportive team
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
• Shares our belief that every child deserves an education that works for them
Qualified Teacher Status is not required for this role.
We welcome applications from Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Family Support Workers, Learning Mentors, SEND Practitioners and others with relevant experience supporting children and young people.
Why join Bright Outcomes?
Bright Outcomes is a values-led organisation committed to inclusion, equity and improving life chances for vulnerable children and young people. We challenge traditional approaches where they no longer meet the needs of learners and work tirelessly to create positive, lasting change.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is transforming educational experiences for some of the most vulnerable learners in our communities.
What we offer:
• Competitive hourly rate, depending on qualifications and experience
• Company pension scheme
• Mileage allowance for business travel
• Dedicated resources budget each half term
• Holiday pay
• Comprehensive induction and onboarding programme
• Ongoing training in SEND, trauma-informed practice and inclusion
• Regular supervision, mentoring and professional support
• Paid CPD time and continuous professional development opportunities
• Flexible working arrangements
• Informal dress code and a supportive, values-led culture
• Central headquarters in Leamington Spa with free parking
• Opportunities to develop specialist skills in SEND and alternative provision
• Opportunities to present at regional and national conferences
• The chance to contribute to sector-leading practice and influence SEND education nationally
• The opportunity to work alongside experienced SEND and inclusion professionals
A culture that values people
We believe that when staff feel valued, supported and empowered, they can make the greatest difference to the young people they serve. Our founder was recognised nationally as a 'Best Boss in Britain' award winner, reflecting our commitment to supportive leadership, professional growth and staff wellbeing.
You won't be doing this alone
Supporting vulnerable learners can be both rewarding and challenging. That's why every Inclusion Mentor receives regular supervision, ongoing training, access to specialist expertise and the support of an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to helping both staff and learners thrive.
More than a support role
At Bright Outcomes, Inclusion Mentors play a vital role in changing lives. You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative practice, develop specialist expertise and become part of an organisation that is helping shape the future of SEND and inclusive education.
Every day brings the opportunity to help a child or young person take a step forward, whether that is returning to education, achieving a qualification, building confidence or simply believing in themselves again.
If you are looking for a role where relationships matter, where your work has genuine purpose, and where you can see the impact of what you do every day, we would love to hear from you.
