Teaching Assistant – Sheffield Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire Position: Teaching Assistant Contract: Full-time / Part-time Start Date: September 2026 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience The Role We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Sheffield. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and pupils to support learning, encourage positive behaviour and help create an inclusive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Support teachers with the delivery of engaging classroom activities.Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.Help pupils develop their academic, social and emotional skills.Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe learning environment.Support pupils who may have additional learning needs.Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher.Work effectively with teachers, support staff and parents/carers.Participate in school activities and contribute to the wider school community.Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times. About You We are looking for someone who: Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people.Has previous experience working with children in an educational or similar setting.Is patient, caring, approachable and supportive.Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Can work effectively as part of a team.Is able to encourage and motivate pupils.Is organised, reliable and adaptable.Understands the importance of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing. Relevant qualifications or experience in education, childcare or supporting pupils with additional needs would be an advantage, but training may be available for the right candidate.
