THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

The Economic Crime Oversight Team in Economic Crime Risk is looking for a Fraud and Cyber Portfolio Oversight Senior Manager based out of Milton Keynes or Glasgow .

This role will be the primary contact for Fraud and Cyber risk expertise, operating within the broader Economic Crime Risk Oversight Team. The individual will work closely with the Head of the Team to set the longer-term Economic Crime Oversight strategy and direction for their business area and has a sound understanding of how the department’s goals fit into the Functional and overall company strategy.

• Economic Crime Risk Management and Oversight: Is responsible for supporting the execution of the Function’s Strategy and priorities. This will require working collaboratively across teams and disciplines, as required.

• Fraud Change Oversight: Responsible for the oversight over strategic, tactical, operational, and regulatory change initiatives, across people, process and technology. This ensures that economic crime risks are appropriately considered and embedded into new processes, systems, products, and customer journeys from the outset.

• Operational Effectiveness and Performance: Responsible for monitoring operational performance through the assessment of MI, reporting and governance, to assess the sustainability of operations and the effectiveness of economic crime controls, with a focus on recently implemented change activity.

• RCSA and Issue Oversight: Responsible for the oversight of known control weaknesses, incidents, audit findings, and regulatory concerns are identified, correctly classified and recorded and managed to effective and timely resolution.

• Fraud Assurance: Work in collaboration with assurance and monitoring teams within Line 2, supporting with SME knowledge and the overall output of reports

• Cyber: Work in collaboration with Line 2 Cyber team, with a focus on Fraud activity and associated threats

• Waivers & Dispensation Approvals: Responsible for the governance of Waivers & Dispensation Approvals, assessing requests where deviations from standard policy or controls may be required.

• High Risk Referrals / Queries & Advice: Act as a centre of expertise for complex or sensitive economic crime matters.

• Decision Making Consultation: Lead the provision of subject matter expertise and risk-based challenge to senior stakeholders and operational teams for key economic crime decisions. This helps ensure that decisions relating to economic crime risk are consistent, proportionate, and aligned to regulatory expectations and organisational standards.

• SME Training Input: Contributes to SME Training Input, helping to build capability and awareness across the organisation.

Professional Experience

• Extensive experience in Economic Crime, Fraud Risk, Cyber-enabled fraud or wider financial crime oversight within a regulated financial services environment. (Required)

• Proven ability to provide senior subject matter expertise, risk-based challenge and pragmatic advice to business areas, change programmes and senior stakeholders. (Required)

• Experience overseeing control effectiveness, operational performance, MI, issues, incidents, audit findings and regulatory concerns through to effective resolution. (Required)

• Strong understanding of UK financial services regulation, fraud typologies, cyber threat linkages and the importance of embedding risk controls into products, processes and customer journeys. (Required)

• Demonstrable experience leading or influencing cross-functional teams, working collaboratively with Line 2 specialists, assurance teams, operational areas and external industry or regulatory forums. (Required)

Education

• Relevant academic/regulatory qualification (Preferred)

• University degree or equivalent or suitable practical work experience (Required)

• Post graduate qualification/experience (Preferred)

• Extensive experience in Line 2 Economic Crime Risk Function (Required)

Languages

• English (Required)

Hard Skills

• Broad experience in Economic Crime oversight as a senior manager across different aspects of financial services / financial markets, and within a global organisation. (Required)

• SME in Fraud risk management and oversight (Required)

• Keeps up to date with changes in regulation and legislation. Review’s policy changes being able to articulate its impact on San UK and possesses strong understanding in more than one policy area. (Required)

• The role holder will have the ability to interpret and articulate regulation, statute, and guidance in a business context, delivering complex information in a way that is simple and easy to understand. (Required)

Soft Skills

• Proven line management experience, including leading and coaching small to mid-sized teams, building collaborative relationships with senior internal stakeholders up to Director level and external partners, influencing others to deliver outcomes, and managing competing priorities and deadlines effectively. (Required)

• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and challenge senior stakeholders across the business.

• Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex fraud, cyber and economic crime matters for different audiences.

• Sound judgement and decision-making, including the ability to balance regulatory expectations, customer outcomes, commercial priorities and risk appetite.

• Collaborative working style, able to work effectively across Line 2, business areas, assurance teams, cyber specialists and external industry forums.

Salary Range

£84,614.00 - £126,922.00 per annum (depending on experience)

This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
