PHI Social Media and Events Administrator

£14.63 per hour

The Social Media and Events Administrator will play a key in enhancing the visibility, reputation and impact of the Public Health Institute (PHI) by supporting its communications, engagement, student recruitment and knowledge exchange activities. 

The postholder will lead the coordination of the Institute's social media channels, develop engaging digital content, and support the delivery of events and campaigns that promote PHI's research, education, innovation and public health impact.

Working closely with academic colleagues, professional services teams and external partners, the postholder will help raise awareness of PHI's research and educational offer, support the recruitment and engagement of prospective and current students ,and strengthen relationships with stakeholders across the public health sector. 

Through effective communications, events and partnership activities, the will contribute to increasing the Institute's profile, influence and impact locally, nationally and internationally.

Duties and responsibilities

Communications, Social Media and Marketing

  • Coordinate and manage the Public Health Institute's social media presence across platforms including LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Instagram and other relevant channels.
  • Create, schedule and publish engaging digital content promoting PHI research, education, events, projects, publications and achievements
  • Develop multimedia content including graphics, videos, photography and infographics in line with University branding guidelines.
  • Maintain and update PHI web pages and digital content to ensure information remains accurate, relevant and engaging.
  • Monitor social media performance, audience trends and engagement, responding to enquiries or escalating issues where required.
  • Produce analytics reports and identify opportunities to improve reach, engagement and impact.
  • Maintain content calendars that support communications, campaigns, events and institutional priorities.
  • Work closely with LJMU Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment teams to ensure consistency of messaging and branding.
  • Develop effective relationships with communications colleagues across partner organisations, including local authorities, NHS bodies, charities, funding organisations and international agencies.
  • Support dissemination of research findings, impact case studies and knowledge exchange activities to local, national and international audiences.

Events Administration and Coordination

  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of conferences, seminars, workshops, public lectures, recruitment events and stakeholder engagement activities in online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
  • Administer event booking systems, registrations, attendee communications and evaluation processes to ensure a positive participant experience.
  • Prepare and coordinate event materials including programmes, presentations, delegate packs, promotional resources and digital content..
  • Coordinate post-event communications, feedback collection, evaluation and reporting, identifying areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain mailing lists, stakeholder databases and event distribution networks in accordance with GDPR and University requirements.
  • Support communication and relationship management with external partners including NHS organisations, local authorities, community organisations, academic institutions and international collaborators.
  • Assist in the development and promotion of public engagement, knowledge exchange and community engagement activities.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen relationships with prospective students, current students, alumni and wider stakeholders.
  • Promote PHI educational opportunities, research expertise and public health impact to diverse audiences.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of communications, events, stakeholder engagement activities and associated budgets
  • Process purchase orders, invoices and event-related expenditure in accordance with University financial procedures.
  • Support monitoring and reporting requirements for funded projects, events and engagement activities.
  • Organise and minute PHI steering group meetings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative systems, processes and communications procedures.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the .

Skills and experience
Essential FactorsEducated to A-level standard or equivalent professional qualification.Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to communications,marketing, events or administration.Experience of managing social media platforms with a proven personal orprofessional record of achieving high levels of engagement.Experience of supporting, coordinating or administering events.Experience of creating engaging written and digital content for a range of audiences.

Experience of using social media management, scheduling and analytics tools.Experience of administrative work in a busy office environment.Understanding of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and datamanagement principles.Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.Proven ability of growing engagement across platformsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage and motivate colleaguesCommitment to LJMUs values and regulations, including the Diversity and InclusionPolicy.
