Permanent | 39 hours per week

Hours

  • Sat–Thurs: 07:45 – 16:30

  • Friday: 07:45 – 15:30

  • 1 in 4 weekends (rota) + 15% shift allowance

About the Role

We’re looking for a General Building Engineer to join our team at HMP Styal, supporting the safe and compliant running of the site.

This is a varied, hands-on role covering fire safety, compliance checks, and general maintenance across a secure site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Fire door maintenance

  • Fire extinguiser checks and servicing

  • Emergency lighting testing

  • RCD testing

  • Water temperature and flushing checks

  • CCTV and alarm system support

  • Checking smoke vents and misting units

  • General compliance and maintenance tasks

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in fire doors, extinguishers, alarms, or emergency lighting

  • Experience with RCD testing and water checks

  • General building maintenance/compliance experience

  • Able to work safely in a regulated environment

Not essential to have everything — training can be provided.
