Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with estimating expertise to oversee the commercial, operational, and financial performance of our roadmaking projects. This role combines contract management, project estimation, and team leadership. The successful candidate will manage a team of 10 roadmaking operatives, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining high quality and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Contract Management Lead the preparation, negotiation, of contracts.Review contracts, identify risks, and compliance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding contract performance, variations, and commercial issues.
Monitor contract progress, certify completion stages, changes, and extensions of time.
Estimating & Bid Preparation Prepare cost estimates.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to generate pricing.
Evaluate supplier/subcontractor quotations.
Support bid submissions with pricing breakdowns, methodologies, and risk assessments.
Contribute to commercial strategy and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
Operational & Team Management Lead a team of 10 roadmaking operatives, ensuring efficient daily operations.
Plan workforce, resources, equipment, and materials to meet project requirements.
Coordinate with site supervisors and foremen to ensure smooth execution of works.
Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Estimator, or similar role in the roadmaking, highways, or civil engineering sector.
Experience supervising operational teams in a construction environment.
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
Qualifications SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS, or equivalent safety certifications (desirable).
Full UK driving licence.
Pay: From £35,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
