Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Physiotherapist to join the Elective Orthopaedic Therapy Team at Trafford Hospital within the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Division.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your specialist orthopaedic skills within a dynamic, experienced, and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will work alongside a Clinical Lead, Specialist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Rehabilitation Assistants, delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing elective orthopaedic procedures

Main duties of the job

• Deliver specialist physiotherapy assessment and management of elective orthopaedic patients.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
• Support and supervise Band 5 Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, and other support staff.
• Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in the education and training of undergraduate students and junior staff.
• Maintain and develop your own professional knowledge and clinical expertise.
• Support the delivery of high-quality patient care across the Day Surgery Unit and inpatient orthopaedic ward.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist who is:

• HCPC registered and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
• Experienced in the assessment and treatment of orthopaedic patients.
• Passionate about multidisciplinary team working.
• Able to demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
• Motivated to contribute to service development and quality improvement.
• Enthusiastic about teaching, learning, and professional development.

The Trust operates a 7-day service , including evening twilight shifts, and all team members are expected to contribute to this service model.

You will also be expected to participate in the Trust's on-call respiratory rota , supporting the delivery of urgent physiotherapy services as required.

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Qualifications
Essential

• Recognised BSC Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
• State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
• Evidence of relevant post graduate training including attendance at relevant specialist courses

Desirable

• Involvement in special interest group
• Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
• Completion of relevant courses

Experience / Knowledge
Essential

• Previous postgraduate clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post
• Specialist knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment technique
• Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, Chartered Society of Physiotherapists/Health and Care Professions Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity
• Evidence of Continual Professional Development
• Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working
• Experience of supervision of students and assistants
• Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants
• Understanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services including experience of quality issues, audit and evidence based practice
• Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices relevant to the clinical area

Desirable

• To have attended a clinical educators course
• Previous experience in a post at this level
