Band 6 Cardiac Catheter Lab Senior Staff Nurse

Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse to join our specialist Cardiac Rhythm Management team at Barnet Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse to further develop their clinical and leadership skills within a highly specialised Electrophysiology (EP) and Cardiac Devices service. As a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the delivery and co-ordination of a comprehensive range of electrophysiology and cardiac device procedures, including EP studies, complex cardiac ablations, direct current cardioversions, implantable loop recorder insertions, and the implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices such as pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and subcutaneous ICDs. Applicants should have substantial post-registration experience within cardiology, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, coronary care, or other acute clinical settings, with demonstrable expertise in delivering high-quality patient care.

Main duties of the job
Our unit comprises a dedicated cath lab suite and a 6 bedded recovery area and runs Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical care throughout the patient pathway, including pre-assessment, preoperative preparation, intra-procedural monitoring, sedation management, and post-procedural recovery. As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will be expected to take responsibility for the day-to-day co-ordination of the clinical area, provide professional leadership and support to junior colleagues, and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and in line with Trust and national standards. Education & professional Qualifications
Essential

• RGN, NMC registration
• Relevant post registration course in interventional cardiology

Desirable

• Relevant post registration course in ECG monitoring and interpretation
• Advanced Life Support (Current)

Experience
Essential

• Significant post registration experience of working in an acute hospital setting
• Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff, formally and informally
• Knowledge of clinical governance issues e.g. handling complaints, clinical risk management
• Competent and experienced in cannulation and venepuncture
• Evidence of skills in managing junior staff
• Ability to problem-solve, establish priorities and to work to deadlines

Skills and aptitudes
